Renewed importance has been placed on high-speed measurement techniques in light of statistical process control. Advances in measurement techniques are discussed in three main categories: high speed matrix camera vision systems installed in various Ford Motor Compony plants measuring fasteners 100% for the Transmission and Chassis Division, engine and assembly; laser vision systems for noncontact measurement of surface roughness on transmission components and gears; and advanced flaw analysis on transmission and chassis components.
