Application of solid-state array sensors to position sensing in a Large Magnetic Suspension and Balance System has been explored. Image processing techniques designed to increase the range/resolution capabilities of these sensors have been developed. The feasibility of modifying an existing MSBS position sensing system using these techniques has been demonstrated.
