The aims of the present work are: to develop and examine a model for testing and evaluating M100 (pure methanol) as fuel in vehicles with Otto-Motor; to pay special attention to the users' demands and critique concerning the function of the vehicles, the inherent environment and safety; to obtain information representing a broad range of driving conditions for the vehicle and to register and arrange data so that conclusions are possible concerning highly specific combinations of those conditions. The ambition was to test matched vehicles under matching conditions. Thus the test were based on 2 matched pairs of Saabs and 4 matched pairs of Volvos. Within each pair, one vehicle was fueld with M100 and the other with petrol. Preliminary results indicate a significantly lower energy consumption for vehicles fueled with M100.
