Following in-house development of metahnol-fueled prototype cars by several manufacturers a fleet of 22 cars has been field tested since 1984. The cars have different cold start systems, use as main fuels M85 to M100 and are instrumented to record the driving mode. Adapted engine oils are used and analyzed regularly. Exhaust emissions have been measured at start and mid-point of the test. Experiences gained up to May 1986 will be discussed.
