Material property usage in the ground vehicle industry is reviewed in the context of continuing developments in computer-based engineering tools. Examples of computer routines for assessing manufacturing feasibility and product performance are presented to demonstrate data usage and the need for integrated data bases accessible to a broad range of engineering functions. Finally, future trends and needs for material property data are discussed.
