An intelligent microcomputer-based controller has been developed that allows non-expert operators to efficiently and safely control a tracked vehicle. This controller can automatically perform daily safety and maintenance checks, self-diagnose abnormal vehicle behavior, maximize vehicle performance and efficiency, and simplify the operation of a complex vehicle. This paper will discuss the tasks that an experienced operator is able to perform and how these tasks are performed by the controller for non-experienced personnel.
