This paper presents an update on a general purpose, computer-aided engineering design methodology that has been employed for the design of seat systems. A comparison of computer analysis predictions with actual test data is shown. Both theoretical structural analysis of a seat frame and seat comfort analysis of the foam cushion is presented. Case histories of seat design are discussed. Stress, deflection, and comfort contour maps of various seating systems are examined.
