A range of cryogenic pressure control valves is described. These valves were designed, developed and qualified by British Aerospace for the 3rd Stage of the ARIANE launch vehicle. A listing of the design drives includes accurate pressure control and operation under conditions of vibration, acceleration and +30 to -223 Cel temperatures. This is followed by a description of the conceptual and detail design. The methods by which the required performance was achieved are presented together with typical test data. Finally, the development and qualification programmes are reviewed.
