Development of a new data acquisition control and analysis system for microprocessor-based engine controls. This system consists of minicomputer-based real-time performance data acquisition equipment and programmable signal generators. Using an optical data highway, this system is connected to a large mainframe computer to aid in the data reduction and analysis processes. The principal feature of this system is its ability to accurately and repeatedly simulate the complicated phenomena of engine operation. The system format of acquired and stored data employs sets of signal levels and acquisition times so that captured signals can be reproduced using time-based readouts of the stored data. This system has another feature which enables monitoring the processing of data in the microprocessor so that engine operation can be analyzed. This system enables increased testing efficiency and better quality analyses.
