This paper describes applications of flow visualization techniques to automotive engineering. Photographs taken by employing seven representative types of visualization techniques are shown and the characteristics of each technique such as its advantages and disadvantages explained. It identifies which technique is suitable for the particular object and purpose of the visualization on a body surface and in space. As the photographs in the article are accompanied by a description of the experimental conditions, it is easy to apply the visualization techniques explained here to actual problems.
