Offshore installations are among the largest structures constructed by man, fabricated in drydock, towed over open sea, and installed on precise location. Risk, combined of probability of accurrence of structured events and their consequences can be compared to large potential hazards. The formulation of risk by risk analysis include: identification of potential hazards, analysis of harzards, analysis of consequences, and evaluation of risks and analysis procedure for offshore activities in the Gulf of Mexico, with checklist of hazards on a fixed offshore installation, their qualitative ranking and failure caused experience are given. The implementation and risk management procedures are explained. (Jarc)
