This paper reviews some of the major design trade-offs for nuclear space power based on gas cooled reactors and closed cycle gas turbines. A system rated at 100 kW(e) is considered and trade-offs involving the effects of key variables such as recuperation, pressure ratio and compressor inlet temperatures on overall system weight are presented.
