Many offshore storage systems have been planned, where floating storage barges are moored inside breakwaters. Under stormy conditions, the barges are moved by the transmitted waves through composite breakwaters. In this paper, a simulation program is described, which is developed to estimate the motions and the mooring forces of the barges in the waves. In this program, the transmitted waves are estimated by making use of the empirical transmission coefficient, and the motions and the mooring forces of the barge are calculated by Runge-Kutta-Gill method. An experiment is illustrated, which was carried out by using two-dimensional models of a breakwater and a barge, where the motions and the mooring forces are measured in irregular waves. By the experiment, the program is ascertained to have good accuracy for the full-load condition of the barge. For the ballast condition of the barge, it is clarified that the viscous damping of the motions should be considered in the calculation.
