Ship vibration is considered one of the most important problems, and is at present of great concern to the shipbuilders and shipowners. Since 1969, measurements of ship vibration have been conducted on 80 ship (250 cases in total test conditions) at IHI by using a digital data acquisition and processing system, and their results have been accumulated. In 1981, the so-called 'Ship' Vibration Diagnosis-System' was established, by incorporating a renewed minicomputer facility, for integrated processes on measurement and data processing on board ships, as well as theoretical calculations, which are functonally interrelated to each other. Described in this report are outlines of an upgraded automatic data acquisition and processing system with further quick capabilities on board, and a data bank system for about 80 ships already stored in the unified data format, in the ship diagnosis system. The evaluation method of vibration amplitude adopted by the authors is also considered here on the basis of the measured data, and is verified to be reasonable. (Wassmann)
