For marine propellers, which are operated in complicated wake fields behind ship together with such related problems as cavitation erosion, blade strength, hull vibratory excitation and so on, their performance calculations by the electronic computer are indispensable today. The authors developed programs for these calculations and have applied them to propeller design for a long time, however, recently due to the development of propeller theories, new calculations and their programs have become increasingly unmanageable. On the other hand, the experimental data of model propeller tests or full-scale measurements have also accumulated so much that it is difficult for a designer to utilize them. It is, therefore, a matter of great importance assort and control these programs and data. To cope with the situation, the propeller performance calculation programs are integrated in the total processing system for ship propulsive performance and used efficiently in the design routine. The latest state of this system is explained with some calculation examples from newly developed programs. (Wassmann)
