A data processing system for seakeeping and maneuvering tests of ships and marine structures has been provided in the IHI Seakeeping and Maneuvering Tank. The test results are printed out on a printer and plotted on a drum type plotter immediately after the tests. The following are included in the analyzing programs developed for the present system. Amplitude and phase analysis for tests in regular waves; Determining the coefficients of derivatives in equations of motions by vertical and lateral forced oscillation tests; Determining the roll damping coefficients by free rolling tests; Spectrum and maxima analysis for tests in irregular waves; Finding turning radius, advance, transfer and tactical diameter from the course and path of turning test results; K-T analysis for zigzag maneuver tests; and determining the coefficients of derivatives in equations of hydrodynamic forces by circular motion tests. This report introduces the software and hardware for the above system. (Wassmann)
