The development of shell plates at the fore and aft of a ship requires a high degree of technical skill and experience. Although in actual number there are less shell plates than there are ordinary ones, the number of man-hours the job necessitates is 5 or 6 times that of other types. The characteristics of these shell plates vary so distincitly from other types that it is difficult to use the standard method of development. For these reason, the HIZAC system does not include them. Endeavoring to simplify the works, this new system has been achieved without the need to develop shell plates. (Wassmann)
