The goal of this paper is to review the present range of SULZER Diesel engines in view of low quality fuels. A brief description of fuel/combustion related design features is given. Particular attention is paid to low quality fuels expected to penetrate the market in non-negligible quantities in the not too distant future, and last but not least a possible contender in the field of synthetic fuels is presented.
