It is frequently reported that the fast cargo ships going among very high seas are exposed in the violent whipping vibration due to green sea impact on the fore deck in the full load condition or to the comparable order of magnitude with the wave bending moment. From the viewpoint of the structural seaworthiness the stochastic prediction of whipping vibration stress of very high speed ship due to slamming is treated in the suitable procedure. These investigations may serve to the more rigorous understanding of the transient, probabilistic prediction of ship dynamics and more exact determination of the rules of all classification societies.(Wassmann)
