The flow field about an ogive-cylinder model was determined at pitch angles of 22.5 and 37.5 degrees by the use of surface flow visualization, force and moment measurements, and velocity traverses. The three velocity components on the leeward side of the model were measured with a laser velocimeter. The fine detail of the surface flow visualization shows a complex pattern of 2 and 3 sets of separation and attachment lines on each side of the rear attachment line. For the pitch angle of 37.5 degrees vortex cores evident in the crossflow plane vector plot on the forebody became so diffuse as to lose their identity on the afterbody. Vorticity contour plots show the interaction and diffusion of the vortices. (Kursetz)
