A joint research programme between Rodriquez Cantiere Navale and CETENA was set up to examine Rodriquez-built surface piercing hydrofoils. The programme, still under way, has focused its attention on an RHS 150 type, whose propulsion characteristics, hull and foils stress levels, as well as craft's behaviour, have been measured. This paper, which is necessarily limited, covers some aspects of the research carried out to date and gives some of the data collected. Further sea trials are scheduled during the winter season to collect more significant data in heavy sea state. (Wassmann)
