Model test results, together with comparison with theory, are presented for hard structure slamming of SES craft when operating in both on-cushion and offcushion modes in waves. Measurements of pressures acting on the bow as well as impact forces on an instrumented section of the bow are exhibited, together with their basic characteristic time histories, frequency content, etc. Data analysis procedures used and comparison of results with conventional surface ship slam characteristics are also discussed, as well as scaling relationships for prediction of full scale values.
