The United States Department of Commerce has announced programs to study a potential risk to electrical circuits which may be exposed to airborne carbon fibres released accidentally, and acceptable methods to dipose of waste-containing carbon fibers. Problems experienced and solved in electrical circuits operating in carbon-fiber manufacturing environments are reviewed which give one industry's experience with the potential electrical risks and some disposal considerations are presented.
