Mechanically fastened, field repairs for graphite/epoxy laminates 3/16 and 1/2 inch thick with through-the-thickness hole damage have been succesfully demonstrated. These repairs (titanium alloy patches and backing plates), were developed for appliction on fuel composite wing surfaces and can be installed by maintenance personnel in the field using available equipment, materials, and methods. A total of 28 specimens were fabricated and tested statically to evaluate effectiveness of selected repair designs.
