This paper describes the frame synchronization scheme and mechanism to be used for the Space Shuttle Time-Division-Multiplexing (TDM) communications system. The probability of frame synchronization acquisition, mean acquisition time, the probability of staying in sync after lock and mean time to loss lock as functions of system parameters are analyzed and derived.
