This study was undertaken with the objective of determining the feasibility and performance evaluation of running an S.I. engine on liquified petroleum gas (LPG) generally supplied in gas cylinders. A two cylinder, four stroke petrol engine was run on gasoline as also with modifications, on LPG. Performance characteristics obtained show significant improvements in fuel economy and air pollution emissions with LPG as compared to gasoline at all operating conditions. Besides, this particular engine was observed to run smoother with LPG than with gasoline. (Wassmann)
