An investigation is in progress to explore the use of methanol blended gasoline in unmodified present day light vehicular engines. This paper reports the latest phase of work on various aspects of engine performance while using methanol blended gasoline. Improvement in antiknock potential of gasoline by methanol blending has been fully investigated. The possibility of achieving better mixture distribution while using methanol gasoline blends has been established. Fuel economy data on road tests with methanol gasoline blends are reported.
