The Regression Simulation of Turbine Engine Performance (RSTEP) Task IV program was an analytical study to identify and evaluate aproaches to improve the accuracy of regression surfaces for use in TEVCS/ARES procedures. The Central Composite Design (CCD) data selection pattern was studied and found to be a flexible, accurate, and economical alternative to the orthogonal Latin Square design selector. The impact of the number of idependent variables and the number of data points was systematically investigated. Two mathodologies which provided significant improvement in the accuracy of the regression surfaces were also identified. (Peters)
