During the Manufacturing Technology efforts of the B-1 composite Horizontal Stabilizer Development program, production quality aluminium tools were designed and fabricated to net mold the graphite/epoxy sine wave spar substructure. The rationale for the tool design, procedures for spar fabrication, NDT inspection results, and structural verification of the fabrication process by hot, wet static spar tests are presented. The results of the effort led to selecting the aluminum tool concept for fabricating the spars in the B-1 Composite Horizontal Production Stabilizer. (Hannebauer)
