This paper reports the analysis of a series of slender tubular columns subjected to eccentric axial forces. Load versus effective axial-shortening were obtained for each member from the initial unloaded state through to the ultimate plastic capacity. The incremental iterative numerical integration scheme uwed to obtain the deformations of the beam-column allowing for residual stresses and the effects of out-of-straightness is also described.
