The engineer and metallurgist, working as a team, have made a tremendous step forward in worldwide conservation of energy. Replacing cast and malleable iron castings with aluminum castings in the automotive industry has greatly reduced the weight of the car. Designing castings in one piece where there is an assembly of component parts is a more economical and mechanically sound procedure. (Peters)
