A report is made on the results of a project which evaluated the toughness of Electroslag and Electrogas Weldments as compared to other welding processes such as manual metal arc and submerged metal arc. The results indicate several areas in ship construction where present limitation on the use of high-heat input welding, such as electrogas/elektroslag, may be relaxed.
