Systematic information feedback for improving the reliability of existing and future equipment and for other user's requirements is a fairly recent development. Whereas it is the user who benefits most from these measures, he also carries the largest share of responsibility for implementing them. Pumps and compressors deserve special consideration since their reliability can be much influenced by the circuits of which they are an integral part. The paper discusses a feedback system which has proved itself most effective under arduous conditions ashore and afloat.
