Industrial truck braking, stability, overhead guard, and noise requirements will be reviewed consistent with national, international, and industry standards. Some of these standards have become law, and others remain in the broad category of consensus requirements. For the global manufacturer, the compliance problem is further complicated by differing worldwide requirements. Beyond the legal and consensus requirements, a discussion of the qualification process for a mast structure will be presented. Various techniques, including stress analysis and life testing will be reviewed to define the system reliability.
