Toshiba possesses an excellent record as a manufacturer of object identification systems that use ceramic resonators and has delivered many such systems to various railways, including the JNR Shinkansen. The Toshiba Programmable Identification System, TOSPID, was developed to meet recent increasing demands in the fields of factory automation, etc. for systems capable of handling a larger capacity of information and of rewriting information. The TOSPID system is capable of reading and rewriting ID plate information without contact. With its larger information capacity and wider reading range, the system is suitable for a variety of applications in such fields as physical distribution and factory automation, in addition to its well-proven traffic control system application.
