Offshore cranes have tended to increase throughout the world for use in the undertaking of marine development. In this connection Meidensha has developed various electrical appliances for these offshore cranes. Based on Meidensha's production history, some typical examples are introduced. These include: the 2000 ton revolving crane delivered to the NARWHAL of Netherland Offshore Company (NOC); the 350/600 ton offshore crane delivered to the BENBECULA of the Jardine Offshore Company; the 100 ton floating crane delivered to the MONTASER of the APA (Alexandria Port Authority); and the 2500/2000 ton offshore crane delivered to the KUROSHIO of the NIMSA (Nippon Marine International SA). All these systems use DC motor electric drives.
