The Worldwide Military Command and Control System (WWMCCS) Automatic Data Processing (ADP) System has evolved into a significantly different system from that first installed in the early 1970s. The original objective of the WWMCCS ADP System was to reduce acquisition, software and maintenance costs for some 158 fragmented batch oriented systems that satisfied predominantly local requirements. Major performance and capability improvements have been made to satisfy the changing command and control requirements and the greatly enhanced perceptions of operational users. Today, in addition to fulfilling its original requirements, the WWMCCS ADP System is a worldwide net of interconnected online hosts, remote and stand alone processors and terminals.
