Lithium cells are finding acceptance as primary batteries in military and aerospace applications. High ratios of energy to volume and weight, high current capabilities and long shelf lives are the features which make some lithium chemistries attractive choices. Features of various available products are described, hints are given on battery selection and a tabular market survey indicates the product ranges and product features of a number of USA manufacturers.
