For the performance evaluation of airborne vehicles airborne telemetry systems developed in DRDL have been used. 5 data channel FM/AM, 12 data channel PAM/FM/AM and 24 data channel PAM/FM/AM telemetry systems were used for flight testing of different classes of airborne vehicles. These telemetry systems have provided data with required accuracy. There is a need to minimize the number of flight trials to keep the project cost at reasonable levels. This places increasing demand on the airborne telemetry systems, especially with regard to accuracy, channel capacity, packaging density and reliability of operation under severe environmental conditions. The author discusses the telemetry systems developed by DRDL and the work being carried out for developing airborne telemetry for futuristic applications.
