Describes the evolution of the flight test telemetry system with real-time processing capabilities at the design bureau of HAL. The author describes the development of an indigenous telemetry system by ISRO-HAL, called 'HIPFIT', standing for HAL and ISRO project on flight test instrumentation telemetry. A brief description is given of the various sub-systems. Their capabilities with applications of the telemetry systems to aircraft flight testing and the real time processing capability is mentioned. Some grey areas of the telemetry system are pointed out which commonly occur during the development phase of a project of this nature.
