US determination not to share its Very High Speed Integrated Circuit (VHSIC) developments with even its most trusted allies is helping to kick off a similar, potentially massive British effort called VHPIC (Very High Performance Integrated Circuits). According to a highly placed source in the Royal Signals Research Establishment (RSRE), the approach to VHPIC differs enough from the US VHSIC that the final products may be complementary to each other.
