A method for the measurement of aircraft height by timing the arrival of secondary radar pulses at four or more time synchronised ground sites is described and the sources and magnitudes of errors in the system are discussed. The site configurations for optimum performance are shown, and the height measurement accuracy for these configurations and two possible applications is quoted.
