It is widely believed that batteries for electric cars and goods vehicles are too heavy and too expensive. However, evidence is beginning to show that some progress is being made in the USA to overcome this problem. Savings of five dollars per day per vehicle may seem small but it has been established that, for a fleet of 200000 units, a third of the services can be performed by electric vehicles. This means that on an annual basis the saving is quite considerable.
