Considers the features of components in a simple linear-velocity meter used in a system for testing automobiles employing metal rails, on which the test object runs on wheels. Tests onthis meter have shown it to be reliable and to provide high accuracy in determining linear velocity. The relative error for accelerations up to 30 m/sec2 is 5-7%.
