Range instrumentation facilities are mainly needed for obtaining vehicle trajectory and telemetry data for performance evaluation and for range safety applications. Major systems that comprise range instrumentation facilities include tracking radars, tone range-interferometer system, telemetry system, telecommand system, range timing system, data links network and closed-circuit TV network. Need for these systems and the availability of such systems at the Sriharikota Launch Complex are indicated. These were mostly systems engineered, designed and fabricated within ISRO. Their performance during the three satellite launchings have been satisfactory.
