The sensor/weapons system of a naval platform is modeled as a stochastic network. Each node in the network represents a specific event that must transpire before any defensive action can be taken. The overall reaction time distirbution of the platform is computed as a function of equipment design and performance. These results are tabulated and stored for the later use as input to an engagement effectiveness model. The development and use of the sensor/weapons model is discussed, and some baseline data obtained from an evaluation of a surface-effect-ship (SES) operating in a defensive mode are presented.
