Some of the developments in aircraft cockpit displays directed to producing multifunction displays and multifunction switches so that functions that are needed at only certain times, such as at take off and landing, doesn't clutter up the control panel during the flight, are described. Terminology in the cockpit, the use of colour displays, human factors, moving maps with terrain features, flat panel displays, head-up displays and helmet-mounted displays are discussed.
