An outstanding example of integrating commercial computer technology into military systems is found in a current US Army program. It is the AN/TSQ-130(V) shelter which provides in a 12*8*8 foot volume a complete ADP storage, retrieval, display and communications system to support the division and corps tactical environment. This system meets the rigors of truck, helicopter, aircraft and ship transportation and can be set up or dismounted in less than an hour to meet contingencies anywhere in the world. Four ATR case PDP-11/70 military computer, an 80 million byte disk, a 400 line per minute printer and a magnetic tape unit make up the ADP system. The computer is compatible with its commercial counterpart including system software, HOL compilers and even diagnostic software.
