For the 1980s missile systems are being developed with even more capability, much of it controlled by a digital computer. Not only are the computers more powerful but Multiple Computer Systems (MCS) are being designed where many computers are used in the control of the system. These changes in the missile system have dictated changes in the computer simulations used with these systems. Whereas the analog guidance systems of the 1960s could be described by a relatively small number of equations, the complex digital systems have an expanding number of equations to define functions.
