'Traffic control' can be interpreted both as dealing with regulating measures and as using technical resources, with the purpose to influence or control from the outside the movement of traffic flows. A 'traffic flow' is a chain of forward moving vehicles at short distances between each other, having approximately the same speed and going in the same direction. In this article a 'vehicle' is considered - just as a 'means of conveyance' is - any possible physical and movable carrier, which can take along people and/or goods, viz. airplanes, ships, trains, cars, bicycles and also the human legs.
